Day 1 - not so fun
so here I am in the morning of day 2. Yesterday was awful. The physios were overbearing and condescending, one of the nurses was mean (if I can I will type out the icepack story) and my pain was off the charts. My leg was like a noodle when I tried walking, and my quads are just gone, I can't communicate with them at all.
The ice pack story: physio suggested ice on my spine. I gave it a try and it didn't help, so I put it on my leg. It felt great so when it was all melted and no longer cold, I asked for a swap. The nurse said "do you have one?!" i said, yes here it is, can you swap it please? Nope! "you're supppsed to buy your own!" this was news to me. Ok, I called my friend and asked her to buy 2 at the chemist (so I would always have a cold one). Next time mean nurse was in my room I asked her where was a good place to buy ice packs. "oh we sell them here, they're $30". Honestly I thought my head would explode. Why not tell me this when I was told that I needed one? "ok, can I please have two" (so one is always cold)
Her: "you do realise they're $30!?" i am laughing about it now but I was so weepy and upset yesterday that it wasn't funny then!
Most of the pain yesterday was from my spine. Eventually a cocktail of Targin, paracetamol, endone and PCA fentanyl made my back shut up. An ice pack on my leg soothed it and I had a good few hours sleep. I woke up at about 2 am and worked on tryimg to get my quads working (not happening).
Oh the food is funny too. They give you a menu and you choose what you want. For breakfast and dinner yesterday I chose the "fruit plate" here they are...note my hand for scale:
