Day 8: post-op visit with surgeon
I was just tired today! Took it pretty easy. It was great to be on crutches and not feel like I had to walk all weird or risk falling.
Surgeon basically apologised for letting me go before seeing me walk-agreed that crutches were necessary until femoral nerve/quads kick back in. Knows my physio and is sending him a summary of what's what to work with.
Did some tests to see if my quads were firing at all. Says that as they are working a little, he doesn't believe the femoral nerve has been damaged. He said it would be zero. It's not zero, so it will quite quickly come back to normal. It was sad seeing the reflex response in my right leg, and my left just non-responsive.
I was able to extend my leg a little further today, every day is a little better. The condition is called femoral nerve palsy which sounds awful.
More physio tomorrow.
New hip feels great, hardly any pain at all. If my quads were working I would be close to 100%.
