3 weeks post op
I seem to have turned a corner in the last 2 or 3 days. My leg is almost normal size, the hematoma has really gone down in size and hardness.
While my quads still aren't fully activating, I can extend my leg now reliably (seated) and lift the whole thing off the bed lying down (I still can't REALLY lift my calf only).
The general bruised-ness and soreness of my thigh has dramatically improved. I'm mostly only taking panadol and ibuprofen for pain. The numb skin on my knee also seems to be improving.
Walking is fine with one or two crutches. I CAN walk without them, but because I can't trust my quads, I lock my knee and it's making my knee sore! So I am still using at least one crutch until I can trust that left leg.
New hip is heaps better than the old one. I can do all sorts of things that were agony before. If my leg was stable, I would be better than new.
I need to keep reminding myself that it's been 3 weeks- it's NORMAL to be still a bit disabled.
Weighed in this morning at 62.9kg, nearly 3kg down from the day of surgery.
